El, that’s what people commonly call him. A short and straightforward nickname. Easy to say and remember compared to his full name, Lael Sabilly Ambiya. This 22-year-old young man was born in Tangerang on 30 May 1999. Being raised in a rush city doesn’t make him hard to make friends. He even looks sweet, humble, friendly, and humorous so that everybody likes him.

One thing that impresses people when knowing him for the first time is perhaps his Jakarta accent. It is because he has been chiefly growing up there. Even people may notice that he has a specific accent when speaking English–an accent that most English learners feel proud of and want to show off. It is understandable since people will recognise a language learner first from his pronunciation. So, when one is learning English, his accent either a British or American accent will appear as the quality of his speech. That’s what happens to El, too. His British accent is inspiring, and I don’t think it is a showing-off, only a commitment to learning he persists.

His enthusiasm for speaking the British accent is because the accent is unique and challenging to study. He always feels astonished when he says some British sounds. He adds that he looks like a professional for speaking so. However, it is not that easy. Learning the British accent needs more effort. It isn’t effortless when he tries to practice it, even though it feels like the right time to say it, but when he records his voice and listens to it, he feels why it is so cringy.

But despite all, he has a role model in the British accent, namely Tom Holland, because he thinks that Holland is an adorable actor and has an excellent British accent. He also wants to teach people who like to learn the British accent in the future. His smile never disappears, and his friends always like him when he talks because of his-so-British-accent. (Brev)
